White After Labor Day: Fab or Faux Pas?

Ahhhh the age old question of whether to wear white after labor day or not. Ever wonder where this crazy rule came from and why people swear by it? Well I’ve got your answer! It all started back in the days of class divisions when lightweight clothes were a symbol of leisure classes. In those days, Labor Day marked when all the high society people came back from vacation, put away their summer clothes and prepared for work and school. As the years went on, the traditionalists and people who wanted to think of themselves as upper class and fashion forward upheld this pretentious rule. Although, they had good reason because white clothing was quite hard to keep clean and didn’t really work with heavy rain and slushy winters. Coco Chanel disregarded this custom and now people are not as strict about this rule, moving toward a season-less wardrobe. There you have it. The entire reason why some feel it’s a fashion no-no to wear white after labor day. For those of you that like to be a little rebellious, check out the perfect spring outfit for your Easter holiday below!

I paired a cinched, ruffle tank with white jeans and finished it off with scalloped wedges. Scalloped edges give any piece a more whimsical look and just make it a little more flirty.
