Easy Pizza Dough Cinnamon Rolls

Hi guys! I am so so excited to bring you guys this recipe. A couple weeks ago, I really wanted to make some cinnamon rolls on a Saturday morning but I didn’t feel like letting dough rise and kneading it and doing a bunch of work. I got the idea to just use pizza dough! It’s essentially the same dough without the sugar. So, I bought some pizza dough and voila, these cinnamon rolls were born. They’re super simple and only took me 15 minutes to assemble.

Pizza Dough Cinnamon Rolls


Ingredients:

  • Store bought pizza dough

  • 1-2 tsp Cinnamon (depending on how cinnamony you like them)

  • 3-4 Tbsp vegan or regular butter, softened

  • Flour (for rolling out dough)

  • 1/2 c. Brown sugar

  • 1 egg

  • 1 Tbsp water

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to temperature on pizza dough package (mine was 375 degrees).

  2. Spray pie plate with nonstick cooking spray and set aside.

  3. Roll out pizza dough into a rectangle until 1/4 inch thick.

  4. Spread butter over entire rectangle.

  5. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon. You may need more or less sugar depending on how much dough you have.

  6. Spread cinnamon mixture over dough, making sure to get it to the edges.

  7. You can add in any toppings you want (i.e. chocolate chips, raisins, etc.) here.

  8. Roll dough longways, tightly. In other words, roll it hot dog style, not hamburger style.

  9. Cut rolls evenly. Depending on how much dough you have and how thick you want your rolls, the amount will vary.

  10. Place rolls in pie plate.

  11. Mix 1 egg with 1 Tbsp of water. Brush on tops of rolls.

  12. Bake 15-20 minutes. Bake time will vary depending on the dough you buy. Mine baked for 20 minutes. If you like them doughy, bake for less time.

  13. Top with any glaze or frosting you like, fresh out of the oven. I didn’t top mine with anything.
